Desmond Kinch

In 1989, when he was just 26 years old, Desmond Kinch cobbled together $200,000 from friends and family to launch Overseas Asset Management (OAM). In the years since, OAM launched two internationally focused funds, and Desmond has grown the firm to more than $500 million in assets. Both the OAM European Value Fund and OAM Asian Recovery Fund have been comfortably in the top decile of their peer groups since they were launched, 10.5 and 14.5 years ago, respectively. Desmond has achieved all this while based in—of all places— the Cayman Islands. The key to his success has been a focus on inefficient and tumultuous areas of the market and an adaptable approach to finding value. At the 2013 Santangel’s Investor Forum, Desmond will profile an undervalued European equity and speak more broadly about his unique and interesting approach to investing on the continent.
